[] English :-)
From what I've seen, you know English better than en-1, you should change it to en-3. All the best my friend, and come to the Republika Srpska discussion page so we can talk :-) --Bormalagurski 6 juillet 2006 à 01:08 (CEST)
- Hehe, well, I'm not in Serbia right now, I'm in Canada since 2005. (now you're going to kill me for not knowing French :-)), but I learned English when I was 3 years old. My father finished University in the United States, so he knows English perfectly; he taught me everything I know. Cartoon Network also helped a lot. My advice for learning English: a lot of conversations with people who speak English well, and watch English TV channels. I'm not sure if you can watch movies in English there, I know that in France they translate it and don't use titles, that's bad for learning a language. It would be ideal if you could buy good movies in English with French subtitles, so that you hear the English word, but read what it means in French. I taught immigrants at an ESL (English Second Language) course last summer here in Vancouver, so I learned a few tricks on how to learn a language quick. But conversation is one of the most important things. The most important thing is wanting to learn.
- I heard that not many French people want to learn another language. Your situation is different than the situation in Serbia, only about 15 million people arround the world speak Serbian, while 270 million people speak French. To be honest, in Serbia I heard that the French are the biggest nationalists in Europe (I bet the French think the same about us :)), but how true that it, I don't know. I know a few French people here, but they're more Canadian than French (which means, they lost thir soul), and they don't feel French at all, they feel Canadian (sad, isn't it). I actually think it's good that the French don't want to be controlled by English, because if everyone spoke it perfectly, the less French words they would use, the more English words would fill in the blanks. If you are able to distinguish the two, then knowing another language is an asset (I know a lot of Serbs here who speak "Serglish", who say Kako (How) are you?, and mix English and Serbian all the time). It sounds really wierd and I can only imagine how it would sound to someone who doesn't speak English (like my mom).
- I read your comment on your user page about the ex-Yugoslavia. It's really sad what happened there, I really wish it didn't happen because Yugoslavia was the best thing that ever happened to us, and essentially, also the worst, at the end. When I meet someone here in Canada and tell them I'm Serbian, they always ask me if someone in my family is a war criminal :-/. At first I was really annoyed, but now I've just accepted it. Although I did meet Ratko Mladic's son once in Montenegro. But the wars were not really about ethnic conflict, it was a media war. The Serbs lost the media war. Milosevic was in very bad relations with the US, especially with the US ambassador in Belgrade who, as his first act as the new ambassador, went to Kosovo and Metohija to embrace the ethnic Albanian separatists (can you imagine a US ambassador do the same in... Basque? Spain would cut his head off). On the other side, Croatia and Slovenia had support from Germany and the Vatican, we had support from France, Britain and Russia. The U.S. took Germany's side. Croats and Bosniaks knew that they couldn't beat the Yugoslav National Army (the 4th largest army in Europe at the time), so they begged for help from the Germans and Americans. They got the help and we lost. But the NATO bombing was just too much, there is not a single Serb in the world that wouldn't die for Kosovo and Metohija. It is our holy land, our Jerusalem, all our monastaries are there, the Serbian Empire of Tzar Dusan originated there, our entire historic literature is based in Kosovo and Metohija, it is everything to us. The Albanians only came there with the help of the Italians during WWII, when the Serbs were ethnically cleansed from their holy land (sounds familiar?). And now they want independence? This is like a slap in the face for 500 years of opressed Turkish rule of Kosovo, we finally liberated our holy land and they want to take it again. It is really out of consideration. I was mad at Milosevic for the bombing of 1999., but I am happy that Kosovo is still a part of Serbia. Milosevic is a very interesting figure, if you're Serbian, there's a kind of love/hate relationship with him. Most people didn't like him towards the end of the 1990s, I was in Belgrade on October 5th 2000. when a million protesters ended his rule, I was protesting against him, I hated him, he destroyed our economy and our lives. But then he went to the Hague and started defending Serbs. This made most people in Serbia respect him. But the bottom line is - he screwed up and deserved to die alone.
- I am sad that most people in other Western countries only think of war and Milosevic when they hear about Yugoslavia or Serbia. There's a lot more to my country. The capital, Belgrade, has been proclaimed to be the city of the future in Europe, and with it's 2 million people is the second biggest city in the Balkans. The nightlife in Belgrade is famous, and the towns around it are amazing. We have 5 national parks, very beautiful lakes and rivers, and the mountains are amazing. Kopaonik Mountain is one of the most popular ski resorts in the region, and the cheapest, because not many Westerners know about it, and just assume Serbia is a wasteland. Zlatibor Mountain has it all - the production of quality cottage cheese, and all sorts of Dairy products, fresh clean air, a lot of cultural monuments, very hospitable hosts in hotels and resorts, quiet villages, waterfalls,... And the women are one of the most beautiful in the world. I see you never visited Serbia. When you decide to come, I would be happy to give you a Grand Tour of Serbia. Most of the nicest churches and monestaries in Kosovo have been destroyed by Albanian terrorists, so you'll never experience that beauty...
- Republika Srpska is a very interesting topic. The Bosniaks want to destroy it, the Serbs want independence. People like to compare RS to Kosovo, but it is nothing of the sort. Both Kosovo and RS have always been Serbian lands, but Belgrade never wanted to destroy Kosovo, Bosniaks want to destroy RS. The Bosniaks want to rule Bosnia, even though the majority of Bosnians (Bosniak - enthic Muslims, Bosnian - people living in Bosnia) are Christian, not Muslim. It's not that I hate Bosniaks or Croats (I'm partly Croatian, my best friend is a Bosniak), but I can't help but notice what they've done to my country - Yugoslavia. We had something special, a multiethnic society, and the entire world was amazed at the will to live together. If you're interested, there are a lot of documentaries on this topic, but I'd recommend Yugoslavia:The Avoidable War (In English, with Serbian subtitles). Well, sorry I wrote so much, I like to write :)). I'd like to hear from you soon, all the best my friend, --Bormalagurski 6 juillet 2006 à 20:49 (CEST)

- Nice to hear your opinion on what I wrote, I appreciate the honesty :)
- I suppose it's good that Montenegro separated. The fact is that Serbia ultimately lost it's access to the Adriatic sea, and that is the only bad thing I can think of when I think of Montenegro secceding. The fact is that Montenegro was only paying 5% of the Federal Budget and Serbia was basically "keeping them alive". How they're going to survive now, we'll see, but probably not without huge money injections from the West. If you think about it, Montenegrins didn't really want to separate. Only 1/3 of Montenegrins actually live in Montenegro, 2/3 are in Serbia, and all of the ones in Serbia wanted Montenegro to stay with Serbia. It's the Albanians and Bosniaks in Montenegro that voted for independence, all of them. Milo Djukanovic's government denied the right for Montenegrins in Serbia to vote in the referendum, and basically won illegaly. But since this is mostly good for Serbia, noone complained, and the President of Serbia (who is also called Boris) was quick to accept Montenegro's referendum. Montenegro is not that preserved, it's just propaganda.
- There's not that much to see in Montenegro, if you like the Adriatic coast, go to Croatia. Montenegro's beaches are very filthy and the sea is polluted because the Government dumps the sewage directly into the sea. I vacationed there for 13 years and every year I got an infection, you can't avoid it. The other attractions are mostly Serbian monasteries, like Ostrog. The Durmitor National park is pretty nice, and Lovcen isn't bad either. That's mostly it. It's a boring place if you go alone, and it might be slightly entertaining if you go with friends. But I've been there tons of times, so it might not be boring for you. Montenegro is basically a continuation of Serbia's culture, so you might want to see Serbia as well while you're down there, I could recommend you much more attractions in Serbia (and you would have free acoomodation).
- I'm sad that most French people don't have a high opinion of Serbia, France and Serbia have been allies in every war untill 1999. France was the only country that put a veto on bombing bridges in Belgrade during the NATO aggression, that's why Belgrade still has it's bridges over the Danube today. France even tried to prevent NATO action by calling a conference in Rambouillet and trying to find a solution (but the US really wanted to bomb us). France has always leaned towards Serbia, but I guess the people don't want to be allied with Serbia anymore. Oh, well, times change I guess... Hope to talk to you again soon, all the best my friend, --Bormalagurski 6 juillet 2006 à 23:20 (CEST)
- Hehe, well I was on the Eiffel Tower twice and I also saw the Paris city centre. But I'd like to see more of France, especially the fortresses. Bear in mind that I was only 10 years old when I visited France, Disneyland was very interesting to me back then.
- It's not you shouldn't go to Montenegro, it has some nice things you can see. Don't get me wrong, Montenegro isn't such a bad country (although their Prime Minister is a criminal wanted by the Italian police), it's just that whatever they have, Serbia has the same but 10 times better. Don't forget that before 2004., Montenegro's flag was almost identical to the Serbian flag, and before 1981., they all considered themselves Serbs (which they basically are, same ethnicity, same religion, same language). So, my recommendation, go to Serbia, visit the amazing sights, get drunk in Belgrade, paddle a boat on the Danube, spend a night in a Zlatibor village, try authentic Hungarian-Vojvodina food in Novi Sad or Subotica, make good friends, and then go to Montenegro for a few days, visit Ostrog, go to Durmitor, then Skadar lake, and that's the "must see" stuff.
- Republika Srpska must become independent if Kosovo and Metohija becomes independent. Self-determination is not exclusive to one nation. I would rather want Kosovo to stay a part of Serbia. If Kosovo remains Serbian soil, I will not support Republika Srpska independence, it's simple like that. If the Albanians get land, the Serbs should too, sounds fair, doesn't it? If Serbia gets Kosovo back, then everything should stay as it is. And if Kosovo becomes independent and Republika Srpska declares independence, the Federation will not be able to start a war, because we would be doing the same thing they did 15 years ago, democratic elections, and unilateral declaration of independence. I think that war, as a mean of gaining territories, in ex-Yugoslavia is over, its simply not going to happen again. And if and when Republika Srpska does become independent, it will change its name to Serbia and unify with Belgrade. Srpska will not unify untill it becomes independent. It would be foolish to do so. The bottom line is - if Kosovo becomes independent, Republika Srpska should become independent too, it's simple logic.
- It is kind of pointless to break apart and then become part of the EU alltogether, but the motives are simple. Montenegro separated so they can get into the EU faster. Slovenia's in there already. If Republika Srpska becomes independent and unify's with Serbia, it will enter the EU faster, because the Federation of B&H is way behind in development (most of the Bosiaks live nomadic lives, uneducated and poor). It's a race for the next generation of students who want to study in Western Europe.
- "But only if they feel a real changement in politic with a will of recognize war crimes and redemption for wars in Balkans."
- The President of Serbia, Boris Tadic, has apologized to the Bosniaks and any other peoples that the Serbs caused pain and suffering. We extradited Slobodan Milosevic, Vojislav Seselj, and over 50 other politicians, generals and officers. Only Ratko Mladic is the problem (Radovan Karadzic is in Montenegro), and it's not fair to keep an entire nation hostage for one man. I believe the Serbian government that they can't capture him, but they want to. It's really hard to find a guy that has his own protection unit assigned by Slobodan Milosevic when he was in power. And the EU suspends talks? Instead of helping us? That's mean. It seems like no matter what we do, it's never enough. We apologized to Bosnia, they're not happy. We sent them every single politician, general and officer except one, they're not happy. We didn't object to Montenegro independence, they're not happy. I won't be surprised when in 2015. Serbia votes not to join the EU. Think about it, how much can people take?
- Add Serbia to the countries you'd like to visit list :) I'll make you like Serbia, just give me time :)))) All the best my friend, --Bormalagurski 7 juillet 2006 à 22:05 (CEST)
- Belgrade has a bunch of monuments, the official website of the city is Beograd.org.yu, and it has a lot of interesting links and photos. Sarajevo is pretty nice too, but it's not that safe. If and when you decide to go to Serbia, I'll help you plan your trip and might even go with you, to be your tourist guide (for free, of course :)), since I plan on returning to Serbia when I finish University. So, wait 2 or 3 years.
- I doubt that Vojvodina (where I'm from, the city of Subotica) will be independent, because 65% are Serbs, and only 5% of the total population want independence, which is definately not enough. The Hungarians are trying to get independence by accusing Serbs of declining human rights in the province, but it's absurd, because I lived in the most multicultural city in Vojvodina where Hungarians and Serbs live together very happily. Even Croats and Serbs are not that nationalistic in Vojvodina, my first girlfriend was Croatian ;-) And the population of Hungarians is going down because they mostly have only 1 or 0 children. Vojvodina will be in Serbia for a looooong time.
- I'm glad you understand my view on Republika Srpska and Kosovo, I just support equal rights for all nations, and even though I'd like for Serbs, Bosniaks and Croats to live happily together in Bosnia and Herzegovina, if Kosovo separates, the Serbs will demand for equal rights which they deserve. We currently have problems on English Wikipedia with the Republika Srpska article, the map has been approved by Commons, but some Bosniaks keep removing it. Why can't we all just get along...
- Bastille looks amazing, I'd love to see all of the France fortresses. We could visit them together one day, I'm definately going to visit France again, I like to travel a lot. And when I was 10 years old, I didn't appreciate Paris as if I would if I went there today. Today I know a lot more history behind the monuments which helps you respect them more. Thats why Albanians burned down 7-century-old monasteries, they didn't know and appreciate the history. For example, if I hated... lets say, Muslims, I would never burn down a mosque, like the one in Mecca or the ones in Isfahan, Iran, because I appreciate the historical value of a monument, even if I don't like the people it represents. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against Muslims :)
- Well, it's about lunch time here, so I'll talk to you later. All the best my friend, --Bormalagurski 7 juillet 2006 à 23:34 (CEST)
- Thats ok, answer whenever you find time :-) --Bormalagurski 8 juillet 2006 à 06:11 (CEST)
- Everything is possible in Vojvodina. I think the Hungarians will have a hard time geting any part of Vojvodina secceding from Serbia, because not all Hungarians want to separate. I know a bunch of Hungarians in my hometown who don't like Hungarians in Hungary (I guess the Hungarians in Hungary don't consider the Vojvodina Hungarians to be "real" Hungarians, so there is a sort of love-hate relationship between them). And as you know, Budapest has taken no interest in Vojvodina because the EU forbids it and there is simply no real chance for any part of Vojvodina to become independent and seccede from Serbia. Even though Hungarians are a majority in some northern places, Serbs together with Croats and Yugoslavs, form a Slavic majority and would never want to be a part of Hungary. It's just an issue because of Kosovo, since they want to separate, the West seems to think that Vojvodina probably wants to separate too, which is absurd, most people in Vojvodina are not nationalistic at all because of the multiculturality, we have 6 official languages!
- As far as Kosovo and other war-related things are concerned, once again, I strogly recomment that you watch Yugoslavia:The Avoidable War (in English, with Serbian subtitles), because it really explains everything. Just click on the link and you can watch it on Google Video.
- Serbia is currently at peace with every nation, and there is no war. Even in Kosovo, a few Serbs are killed there and then, but it is otherwise peacefull. You can't go to Kosovo as a tourist, so it doesn't matter. Other than Kosovo, it is absolutely safe everywhere in Serbia. I've heard a few times here in Canada that if you go to Serbia you get killed by some crazy Serbs, but I feel less safe going to L.A. or New York, than going to Serbia. In Serbia, kids play on the street unsupervised, while here in Canada you can't see any kids outside. And then we're the "dangerous nation" ;-)
- I have heard that the French are nationalist from several friends, even some cousins. In Serbia, the most nationalistic people are the French, then the Greeks and then Serbs (in the opinion of most people). I guess most people think that because French don't really want to learn other languages, maybe a few people have had bad experiences, and word spreads out... I think there's nothing bad with being a little nationalist, not too much, but loving your people is very healthy and it's good unless you don't like others. I've never heard that French are racists, and I don't think thats true (well, there's racists in every nation, but I don't think it defines the French). I have heard that there are a lot of immigrants in France, but I don't see how thats a bad thing.
- Are you excited about France - Italy tomorrow :)? Watch the movie Yugoslavia:The Avoidable War, you'll like it. All the best my friend, --Bormalagurski 8 juillet 2006 à 22:48 (CEST)
- Hi, I'm pretty tired right now, I planned on writing to you tonight, but I came home late (and just got myself a girlfriend ;-)). I'm glad that you decided to watch the movie, enjoy it, and I'll talk to you tomorrow after the football game (I'm a huge football fan ;-)), GO FRANCE!!!! --Bormalagurski 9 juillet 2006 à 08:38 (CEST)
- Yea, I am pretty happy :)), but sad that France didn't win :(, oh, well...
- I noticed France has a lot of immigrants just by looking at the football team, a lot of blacks ;) I am myself an immigrant here in Canada, but I don't plan on living here, so I'm not trying to assimilate into the culture (which Canada basically doesn't really have). But if someone comes to a foreign nation and then acts like he owns the place, like he shouldn't change, but everyone else should change, they shouldn't be welcome. For example, if a guy from Ethiopia comes to Paris and expects society to adapt to him, and not the other way around, he should be kicked out of the country. Instead of being thankfull for living in such a nice and relatively rich country like France or Italy, immigrants don't appreciate it. Immigrants, if they want to live in France, should act as French people and they would fit in better. If you don't want to change, society will reject you, and you will live in segregation. It's not the French government's fault, they gave the immigrants all the rights they deserve, but society and the majority of French people want immigrants to consider themselves French, not Arab, Persian, Nigerian, or whatever. It's not about racism, it's about accepting the society around you. But that's just my opinion, I'm sure you're better aware of the situation in France than me.
- I've never heard of the name Hanon, sounds nice, but I don't think it's Arabic... It sounds Jewish to me ;) Write soon, all the best my friend, --Bormalagurski 10 juillet 2006 à 00:45 (CEST)
- Let me just say that France is not the only country which has such problems. Here in Canada, a large part of the Chinese community don't speak English or French at all. There are parts of the city where everything is in Chinese, the names of the restaurants, the menu, the signs, the names of the shops, and there are NO translations in English or French. It's like walking around in Beijing. I must say that I do get very frustrated sometimes, not knowing where I am, and how the hell do I get away from there. Asking someone on the street doesn't help, they don't speak a word of English and most of the time just run away from you when you get closer to ask them something. I mean, come on, if they don't want to accept that they're in Canada, they should go back to China. There are a few Serbian restaurants in Vancouver and all of the Serbian words (name of restaurant, menu,...) have English and French translations, as REQUIRED BY THE CONSTITUTION OF CANADA. My logical conclusion would be to send the police into Chinatown and get them to either accept the law or get the hell out of Canada, but then I realized that Canada is a "free" country. Here, if you say something against the immigrants, you're a racist, but if they say something against the locals, they're "fighting for their human rights", which I'm sure they have more than they need. I know it sounds like I'm a racist, but I'm honestly not. Still, I don't like when people are taking advantage of such a peacefull society, like the Canadian one; it doesn't matter if they're Chinese, Portuguese, Scandinavian or Iraqi, I just picked the Chinese as an example.
- Personally, I think it's the failure of a government when such things occur. Like in Canada, where authorities reject stepping in and protecting the law in fear of causing an international incident, authorities fail in countries around the world. I've heard that there are some neighbourhoods in Paris that even the police are scared to go into. Is that true? If it is, why not send the army in there, the law must be respected. I'm not surprised that racism is increasing, when such priviledges are given to immigrants, the locals will get angry. Which priviledges am I talking about? Well, how about having a passport from a country which official language you don't speak? If you ask me, you should kick those people out of the country, unless they make a clear effort to learn the language. This is the first step towards assimilating the immigrants into the country and decreasing the difference between them and the locals. Then, relative financial security would be the logical step, and the rest would come by itself. But this is all impossible if the government fails to implement the law and come up with some new and improved regulations that will solve the problem, instead of just ignoring it.
- It's not true that everyone in Serbia says "I'm Serbian", what about Kosovo ;) ? I'm sure they say "I'm Albanian", or maybe Vojvodina, I'm sure Hungarians and Croats will say "I'm Hungarian", and "I'm Croatian". Even if you ask people that live in Belgrade, they're not going to say that they're from Serbia, but just Belgrade. They call them selves "Beograđani" (citizens of Belgrade) because they think they're better than the rest of Serbia. There is even "Vojvođani", "Šumadijci", "Zlatiborac", and other names for people living in different regions. Sadly, because of the Western propaganda, an increasing amount of Serbs are ashamed of their nationality. Some here in Canada would rather say they're from Yugoslavia, then Serbia, which makes me very sad, because the Croats and Slovenes proudly say "I am from Croatia", and "I am from Slovenia".
- Rémih, I think it's time - change your language user box to en-2 :) I read your first and latest letter and I can see an improvement, you deserve the upgrade! Write to me as soon as possible, and don't worry about the movie, a few more months of talking to me and you'll understand every word of it :))))) All the best, my friend, --Bormalagurski 11 juillet 2006 à 07:01 (CEST)

Salut !

[] Hey...
I understand, but my point is you need to bring in some neutral perspectives, meaning users who are actually Bosnian. Let me explain:
For example:
The same would be if someone from the Basque were writing articles on Basque without any user contributions from actual proud French people.
(I am neither saying that the Basque should separate nor am I saying that the Basque is an entity, I am just trying to illustrate a point).
Next mention this (Please fix some grammatical errors):
Le drapeau, le manteau des bras et le hymne de Republika Srpska ont été inconstitutionnels régné par la cour constitutionnelle de la Bosnie-Herzégovine et doivent être remplacés pour le mois de septembre 2006. SOURCE
Thanks, Kseferovic 27 juillet 2006 à 09:45 (CEST)
- Yes, it goes for both entities. Please mention that this is in order to alleviate nationalistic symbols. As you can see with the coat of arms of Republika Srpska, it is pretty much the same one used by Republic of Serbia (actual country). I mean it is Bosnia after all. Thanks, Kseferovic 27 juillet 2006 à 10:05 (CEST)
- Most likely it will either be the current flag or it will be a united flag between both entities. However, the actual flag proposals have not yet been released to the public. Yes, in the long run it is a step towards unification. Look at it this way: No anthem, no flag, no coat of arms, makes both entities loose their separate nationalism. Slowly it is becoming better. Europe should not have countries that are divided. Thanks, Kseferovic 27 juillet 2006 à 10:23 (CEST)

I wanted to ask you why there is the mentioning of independece in the infobox to the right of both entity articles. Republika Srpska and Federacija Bosne i Hercegovine do not have any independent status, they both, as you know, belong to Bosnia and Herezegovina. The Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian, and English language articles do not mention independence in the the infobox at all sinc ethey are not independent. Thanks, Kseferovic 27 juillet 2006 à 19:14 (CEST)

[] From Boris :)
Heeeeeey!!!
I'm so sorry I didn't write sooooo long! I was actually pretty busy, plus I went to CUBA :) It was very nice there, I had an amazing time! My dad is coming to Vancouver in a week, so I can't wait :) We are going to go to visit all of the National Parks of British Columbia and Alberta. I'll talk some more about my Cuba trip, if you want :))) Anyways, what's new with you? I'd like to hear from you soon, my friend. All the best, --Bormalagurski 3 août 2006 à 21:17 (CEST)
- Wow, Cuba is really amazing. I mean, the people there are VERY poor, they only get about 13 euros (in pesos, of course) a month, and most of them live with at least 5 people in small homes. BUT, they are all very happy, the people are always on the streets, playing dominos, listening to music, really they always have a smile on their face. Its amazing. And it's really safe in Cuba, you can go to the darkest streets and noone will even give you a strange look. They all have free education, free healthcare, and they work 8 hours, just like everyone in developed countries - and expect if they say something bad about Castro or the government, they have relative freedom. Really makes you think about communism. On the other hand, they're not allowed to talk to tourists, tourists use a different currency (the convertible pesos) and some commodities are only for tourists - Cubans can't buy them.
- I visited Havana first, then Varadero. In Havana, I visited many attractions, including a cigar factory, where workers made hundreds of cigars in one day. Workers can smoke all they like, and bring 2 cigars home (makes you think about how long they live). It takes 2 hours to smoke one big Cohiba Cuban cigar. Oh, I met 50 Serbian people in Cuba. 50!!! I know it's really a lot, there was a travel group from Belgrade (30 people), 10 people from Toronto (originally from Bosnia) and 10 more from Calgary (originally from Belgrade). In Havana, we were with the 30 people group from Belgrade, and in Varadero, we were with everyone, because we picked the same hotel the people from Belgrade picked too :) It sounds amazing, but its true. So, I had a lot of fun, Boris in Cuba with 50 Serbian people, you can only imagine :))) Varadero is really heaven on Earth, you MUST visit it one day!
- I STILL didn't get an answer from the government of RS, I actually wrote to them two more times about some other stuff, and they still didn't reply to that either, so... I might call them by phone, but I'm quite mad at them right now. I mean, how hard is it to write "No, no regions", or "Yes, 7 regions"... Oh, well...
- As far as sunburn is concerned, don't worry about me, I have skin that never burns, I don't know how or why, but its like that (my dad has skin just like me... I mean, I have skin just like him :)). Is it hot in France? By the way, this is the first time my dad is coming to Vancouver to visit us, so I'm VERY excited. We're going to Victoria on August 11th (my birthday :)), and we'll be there untill August 13th. Then, on August 16th, we're going to visit Kootenay, Banff and Jasper national parks in BC and Alberta; we're coming back at the end of August. And then, sadly, university starts, and freedom is over - OVER :((( At least untill december :))) Oh, then I might, just MIGHT, go to... Hawaii!!!! But, shhhhh, its still not confirmed ;) Write soon, all the best my friend, --Bormalagurski 5 août 2006 à 01:46 (CEST)

[] Modèle géographique et Modèle infobox
Salut.

[] Read this Urgent (All french people should read this for a better understanding)
First I am shocked at my friend Boris. Secondly some of his comments aren't facts (true). You see one of his first comments was that Kosovo and Republika Srpska were always part of Serbia. Well, Kosovo was, but RS did not exist until 1992 when the war broke out in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Bosnia and Herzegovina was a country appearing in the 400-500 A.D., so Republika Srpska could not have even existed or belonged to Serbia at that time.
You can read this message and not believe me at all. Well, I am trying to bring in a neutral viewpoint. First, if you saw the moive Yugoslavia: Avoidable war that is BIASED (More on the Serbian side). Why do I say this? Because it was created by a pro-Chetnik TV station (BN Bijelina, the first town to fall under Serbian occupation, many innocent people were killed) at the end of the war in Bosnia. You should see a documentary that was filmed by CNN, which will show you the thuth about the war in Bosnia and about the horrible formation of Republika Srpska. The documentary filmed by CNN is Defense of Bosnia
I do not hate Serbians. I really do not care if they want to live in Bosnia or not. As far as I go, let them stay without any problems. However, I do not like the attidute of them trying to form a seperate country.
- THIS WOULD BE LIKE TRUE FRENCH PEOPLE SUPPORTING THE BASQUE SEPERATISTS
I will explain more further but please see the video and keep things in mind.
P.S. an entity is not trully difined, therefore that is why FBiH and RS are called entities. An Autonomous region (such as Kosovo) is more independent than an entity.

[] Boris
Hey, I read the thing and I am really shocked. I will translate the thing word for word.:
Said by Panonian:
Translation of Panonian:
- User: Bormalagurski asked me to start a voting over his forever blocking on the Serbian Wikipedia. Boris begged me to change the block from a forever status to a three month status. I (this is Panonian another Serbian user saying) want to inform everyone that I really do not know the reasons for what Boris has been blocked, so I wont vote for this, but I will start the voting for those who know the actions of Boris so they can give their viewpoints. Boris has asked that the voting should last seven days.
Said by Славен Косановић:
Postoje pravila o pokretanju glasanja ovdje.
Translation of Славен Косановић:
- There are rules over this kind of voting on the Serbian wiki. First and foremost we have to see if this type of voting is possible on the Serbian Wiki. If that goes through then we can start voting. Then we should se "Until will the main theme of this (serbian Wiki) be about one single person/user". We have so many articles to write, so many to add info to and we are here trying to worry about one single person. And through this we are making a precedent (beginning) for future blocked users to try and get unblocked through others! This is only one incident but think about the future when more and more of these come up, there is too much drama let it stop!
Said by Millosh:
Translation of Millosh:
- Good, the questions is udnerstood more or less, so we do not need to further question. Therefore, I think that Boris is not the main question or issue that he was several days ago. Let the people vote, so we can get rid of this issue. Otherwise, I agree with (Славен Косановић) in saying that ("Until will the main theme of this (serbian Wiki) be about one single person/user".)
This is Kseferovic now, my God am I shocked. They continue with the voting and it seems that it does not pass through. He is indefinitely blocked from the Serbian Wikipedia where he was an administrator! His own people blocked him for his political incorrectness and his constant swearing (Verbal use of bas words).
They say he is a Sockpuppet. Many dislike of his actions. User:SašaStefanović removed your vote saying that he made friends with you and others in order to try and get more votes.
- Never sign anything you don't know.

[] Boris 2
First things first, Boris has apparently lied to you. Secondly, yes everything I translated is correct. Almost every Wiki, including the Bosnian and English ones, gave him warnings constantly. The only reason that he did not get warnings on this wiki is because he does not know enough French to contribute. On the Serbian wiki he got several warnings and was blocked several times before. Apparently he did not change his extremist views that became noticeable with even his own Serbian community.
Thanks, Kseferovic 28 août 2006 à 22:21 (CEST)
- A sockpuppet would be someone who screws up (Does something bad) and then after that tries to reconcile his mistakes. It is acceptable once or twice but continuing the same behavior is unacceptable. I mean if the Serbian wiki sees the behavior as unacceptable than we know he has really wronged. I used to chat with him just as you did (If you want to check my user page on the English Wiki (Talk section under archives)). he used to be my "friend", but after seeing what he told you and that he is blocked indefinitely I have changed my view on him. Dear Rémi:
Thanks for your comment. I wish this discussion was more constructively oriented. Now it is focusing more on past misreading, and I have the feeling that the comments I get do not deal with my arguments (they remain unanswered) but with one’s own past comments!
Why discuss this template as if it was published in a book and fixed forever? Is Wikipedia not a place where edits are made anytime by anyone? So why go back to Bahamas that are no longer actual?
The principle of inclusion is clearly formulated in the page of the template, also in its discussion page, and I repeated it several times in the discussion with you and Channer. So why do you question Pantelleria which is situated 70 km from Tunisia and 100 km from Sicily?
Do you propose to change that principle, and if yes, how exactly? How can you judge which territories belong to this template and which territories are wrongly included according to you, without explicitly stating your criterion?
Issues like regrouping of territories, degree of detail, or the name of the template are something that could be debated and anyone is free to suggest or make edits; there is no monopoly on this.
Now that this template will be deleted there is not much sense to discuss this, but nevertheless I shall respond to your comment.
Yes the minor French islands in the Indian Ocean could be grouped into ‘’Scattered Islands’’, why not? This has even been done in the English version by a guy who is currently working on the template.
About the degree of detail. In my original version I only included details (smaller territories listed in parentheses) when the subdivisions had some autonomy, for example listing Ascension and Tristan da Cunha after Saint Helena. Then some Portuguese inserted the individual Azorean islands, and after some consideration I left them to stay. One reason is that this is informative, and the second reason is that these smaller territories are precisely those that need templates as they have none, while the larger territories (as Réunion for example) have plenty. But the applicability of this has to be examined carefully and some criterion fixed so that one does not list all the atolls and islands of Tuamotu for example.
As for the name of the template - sorry folks this ball is in your field not mine! If the native French speaking participants here have problems to formulate an adequate name, how could I?! The problem is not in the notion but in the language. In English, there is no problem with “Outlying areas”. As suggested by someone here, it could be “Exterior territories” (but certainly I would not support “dependencies”). But once again -- given that this was discussed here in my discussion page and in the Pages à supprimer -- why should you start once again from the beginning rather than from the point reached by the discussion?
Apologies for not communicating in French. Apcbg 24 septembre 2006 à 14:26 (CEST)
- Your English is excellent, and I understand perfectly well your French too. Apparently, the problem is in my English :-)
- Regarding the title, I already told you that the wording is not my competence as this is your language not mine -- see above.
- Your proposal about the details and subdivisions is acceptable; I have no strong opinion on this. In the English template this changes from time to time by various participants, right now someone has removed the individual Azorean islands. Finally this will be settled one way or the other.
- Pantelleria, Iceland, Greek islands. I have explained the criterion of inclusion in the template three times. I shall explain it a fourth time, maybe this time it will be understood. The principle requires a sovereignty link with some European country (European is not necessarily EU); all political statutes are accepted: integral parts of the national territory; or autonomous country or region; or overseas department; or territorial colectivity; or overseas territory or other status; and all forms of relationship with the EU or no relationship with the EU is accepted. (When you EU status in your two templates, you make different templates; because of that your templates do not replace this one, and this one cannot replace your templates; hence your repeated comments on your templates do not help here but only bring confusion!) The political criterion of inclusion here is only this: common sovereignty with any European country.
- Pantelleria and the Canaries have European sovereignty but are closer to African states, and that’s enough. No autonomy is requested.
- Yes some of the Greek islands are closer to Turkey than to continental Greece. But do I have to remind you that Turkey is an European country, even in the process of EU accession? The territory of Turkey is a contiguous political extension of Europe.
- Iceland may be closer to America than to Europe, but in geography, it is traditionally considered part of Europe geographically, not part of America. By the way, the American territory to which Iceland and Jan Mayen are closer is Greenland, which is politically European. Svalbard is also geographically considered part of Europe, and it is even closer to certain European islands to the south (Bjørnøya, part of Svalbard) and the east than to Greenland. - The utility of the template European outlying areas is very clear: To present the global presence of Europe as a whole, a presence of enormous cultural (bridge to local neighbours), economic and strategic implications (a huge portion of the world EEZ and continental shelf).
- Regarding possible ambiguity in the interpretation of the general criterion for inclusion in the template, this could be avoided by providing a more technical algorithm by which anyone could verify if one territory or another is correctly included in the template. Here is one possible algorithm for verification:
- An European outlying territory is a territory which: (1) has any political status other than independent country; (2) has a common sovereignty with some member state of the Council of Europe; and (3) either (a) the nearest independent country is not a member of the Council of Europe, or (b) the distance to the nearest European territory is more than 400 nautical miles. (The distance in (a) is measured to the nearest other territory; the distance in (b) is twice the EEZ limit under the Law of the Sea Convention, ensuring that the respective jurisdictional waters are not contiguous.)
- This clarification is now added to the English version of the template.
- You wrote: Why not do the same thing whith the other continents? Very interesting question. I have not checked on the map, but of course the global presence of Europe is by far the most substantial one (due to obvious historical reasons); as for the other continents, most likely: Africa and Asia will have almost nothing, except probably the 'Asian' Hanish Islands in Red Sea); South America has few, belonging to Chile (Rapa Nui), Columbia and Venezuela; Australia/Oceania has few Australian islands off Indonesia, and Heard and McDonald Islands near Kerguelen; North America -- only the USA has outlying areas (and the term "US outlying areas is actually used in American reference books!), some islands in the Caribbean and many more in the Pacific all the way to Guam (that's why the USA has the largest EEZ in the world, France is number two). [] Re : Création de schémas
Bonjour Rémih.
Bien sûr, tu peux tout à fait déposer ta demande dans l'Atelier graphique. Le meilleur endroit est la page Images à améliorer où, si nous nettoyons des photos, nous créons aussi des schémas p.ex. Il nous faut cependant une base de travail qui peut se présenter sous la forme d'un schéma / croquis déjà présent dans l'espace Wikimédia ou alors une source via un lien vers un site externe comme tu le proposes. Il n'y a pas de problème.

[] Re : And the winner is...
